Place

Currently online sales are shipped directly from international suppliers, MCQ said we should presume there are warehousing facilities in mainland China for the wholly owned store - this space will be shared with AMQ

MCQ were not open to tell us about any particular performance in various regions in mainland China or whether any areas faced difficulty or success.

They were not interested in the idea of a pop up in a tier 1 city because they use pop ups to test the market, not increase brand awareness.

Lecture with Zhang Zhe suggested most Chinese consumers have heard of AMQ in tier 1 and some know MCQ, but in tier 2/3+ cities they haven't even heard of AMQ brand let alone MCQ - too difficult to compete with cheaper similar brands in these cities, therefore we should promote brand in tier 1. MCQ were interested in idea of customers travelling to Shanghai/Beijing to shop, increasing brand awareness in tier 2&3 through social and advertising could increase revenue in tier 1

Where do they want their wholly owned store to be? Is there feedback from current store performance that could guide the decision?

Warehouse facilities in China

Malls favourable over dept stores, pop ups are not of interest
