Climate
California's climate can change based on elevation, latitude, and proximity to the coast. The elevation is how high up you are, the latitude is the distance from the equator to where you are, and the proximity is how close you are to the coast. Based on these things, California's climate can be Mediterranean or subarctic. A Mediterranean climate has warm, wet winters and hot, dry summers. A subarctic climate has very cold winters, and cool to mild summers.
