Biotic

Biotic & Abiotic Factors

Abiotic

•Sharks- Tiger sharks are the Hawaiian monk seals' main predator. They mainly attack the pups, or baby seals.
•Humans- Humans can disturb and bother the seals while they're resting on peaceful beaches. Humans also used to hunt the seals for their skin.
•Diseases- Any outbreak of disease could spread very easily throughout the monk seal population. Hawaiian monk seals can also catch diseases due to exposure from humans and feral animals.

•Marine debris- Monk seals may become tangled in fishing lines and nets left by fishers or other trash left in the sea.
