Caste System

The Aryans also separated their society into classes based on their occupation. The highest class being the priests or Bhramin, who were the purest and closest to moksha, and the lowest being the Dalit or the untouchables, who were spiritually impure. This was known as the caste system. The caste system played an important role in all aspects of Aryan life. It affected marriage, friendship, diet, clothing, occupation, and living quarters. A person could only be born into a caste and never move into a different one in their lifetime. Also people could never associate with other people in a different caste.
