This civilization rose around the same time as Egypt and possibly had twin capitals called Harappa and Mohenjo Daro. They had many accomplishments such as grid pattern roads, a city sewer system, a unique writing system, granaries, and a temple in each city. They depended on agriculture and trade which led them to travel as far as Sumer. Their civilization is guessed to have declined around 1900 B.C. Though the exact cause is unknown, scientists have guessed it was a combination of major events that led to their downfall.
Mohenjo Daro and Harappa were the supposed twin capitals of the Indus civilization. Both were 3 miles in circumference and had a large warehouse used for storage. The cities were built with a very well organized road system that used a grid pattern. They also had a complex plumbing system put in individual houses. Their most notable feature, however, was their colossal hilltop structure. The exact purpose of it is still unknown today.
