Aztec Life and Society

The Aztec people had clear roles. These roles determined how they lived. They were all organized into groups called calpullis. A calpullis is a group of people that share land schools and a temple. An elected leader was chosen that took orders from the king. As usual the king is the most important. He had gardens, a zoo, and an aviary full of birds. His 3000 servants took care of the animals and entertained him.

The king was in charge of the law, trade, tribute, and warfare. People like nobles helped him do this. This position was passed down from father to son. These young nobles went to special schools where they learned their responsibilities. They would face as government officials, military, leaders, and priests,
