Korean War
On June 25, 1950, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (North Korea) launched a surprise attack on South Korea. Seoul, the capital, was captured by the North Korean troops. The US soon intervened by helping the South Korean troops fight and try to secure land near the Chinese border. The Chinese then intervened and pushed the South Korean troops down to "38th parallel". The rest of the war was fought along this line where an armistice was signed.
