The Bay of Pigs invasion begins when a CIA group of Cuban refugees landed in Cuba and tried to topple the communist government of Fidel Castro. The Castro regime had severed the country’s ties with the US and developed close links with the Soviet Union.The attack was an failure because of swift counter attacks from Castro's military and the United States refrained from providing aerial warfare.
