NATO/Warsaw Pact
These organizations were created as stabilizers in the war. Because of Communist expansion, the United States and 11 other countries formed the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). The Soviet Union and its Communist followers in Eastern Europe founded a rival alliance, the Warsaw Pact, in 1955. This led to a divided Europe,or as said before a bipolar balance of power.
