620,000 soldiers died in the war. But 2/3 of the soldiers that died in the civil war didn't die just because of getting shot or fires. They died a worse way and a slower death; disease.

There were some methods of fighting disease during the civil wars. The doctors had to make sure the soldiers got good amounts of rest and had a healthy diet to get ride of their sickness.
