The Sixties and Beyond
Long, Beautiful Hair...
Long hair to teenagers and young adults in the 1960s, was more than a hairstyle- it was a statement. It gave them the freedom to express themselves, regardless what adults said. The Beatles had a large influence of this statement, as they had longer hair than the average American. As the Beatles became increasingly popular, so did their ways of living, which influenced not only americans, but people around the world. American boys that had long hair were often discriminated against in America.
Long hair to adults in the 1960s, was considered a sign of rebellion.
