Erosion

Some Types of Weathering

Weathering

Some Types of Erosion

Erosion is the act in which the earth is worn away. The process moves rocks, sand, and sediments throughout the Earth. After weathering has occurred, erosion kind of acts like a broom and sweeps the small pieces away.

Weathering is the breaking down of rocks. Small or big weathering will always break down any size rock. Weathering breaks down the rocks into small pieces. Once weathering has happened, Erosion takes over and transports the minerals and small sediments somewhere else.

Erosion by Water-in this picture the water had curved its way through the ground moving all the sediments and soil.

Erosion by Wind- in this picture, the small sediments and sand are being moved by the wind.

Erosion by Ice(Glaciers)- in this picture the glacier is making it's way through the mountain eroding the sides.

Erosion by Humans- Humans step on rocks everyday, which makes their foot or shoe grind on the rocks which erodes it

Wind- Wind can break down the rocks by blowing items in between the rock, or in the cracks of rocks.

Water- Water can flow through the rocks which pushes them apart, and breaks them.

Ice- Ice breaks down the rocks by having water in the cracks then freezing and busting the rock!

Plants- Yes plants can weather rocks. They can grow in between the rock and the roots will push they rock apart.
