What happens if the kidneys stop working?
More than 13 million people in the United States suffer from some for of kidney disease. The function dip the kidney can weaken for many reasons such as cancer, other diseases, or injury. When the kidneys stop working properly, they can no longer filter the blood. Without the kidneys, waste products and other chemicals build up in the blood. The raised levels of these chemicals in the blood can cause a person to become sick or poison their blood.
