What are the parts of the heart?
Your heart is a very strong muscle that is the size of your fist. It is located in the center of your chest behind a bone called the sternum. A protective sac of tissue called the pericardium. In one year, a persons heart pumps enough blood to fill 4 large swimming pools! The heart has two sides the right side and the left side. Theses sides are separated by a muscular wall. Each side of the heart has two chambers, or hollow sacs. The upper chamber is called a atrium. The lower chamber is called a ventricle.
