Mayan Life and Society

The Mayans had a complex class structure. Life for lower class was very different of the upper class. The upper class had different groups of people. The King had the highest position, then priests, warriors, and merchants as well.

The Mayans thought their rulers were related to the gods. They were often in religious ceremonies and led battles. The richest people had beautiful jewelry and clothing

Priests were born into the job and were the most educated. With their knowledge of math and astronomy they plan the best times for their ceremonies.
