Mayan Achievements

The Mayans were artistic and architectural in their paintings and temples. They also discovered things in math, science, and writing. The Mayans were known for their sculptures and jade and gold jewelry. They also use their architectural skills to build cities without metal tools and wheeled vehicles for their other supplies. They used obsidian tools and moved them with logs and ropes.

The Mayans also built observatories to study astronomy so priests could study stars. They figured out that a year is 365 days long. Later they learned the cycles of the moon and how to predict eclipses. When they began to study astronomy they used this information to create calendars. They used symbols for farming activities that matched the seasons. Their calendar was more accurate than Europe's. They also created a number system that included new math discoveries. They used zero recored important dates.
