Tom was fifteen and he was spending time to learn to be a telegrapher.He got a job as a telegrapher at night. During the day Tom liked to read and work on experiments. Also he tinkered with invention during the day.
He was 21 in 1868. Tom made a automatic vote counter. It was his first ever invention and people didn't like it but people use it today.
