Human Emotions
Describe: Shin used a wide variety of colors. The two people looked to be a man
and a woman. The two are painted in shades of black and white. The lines and outlines in the painting are not precise and are somewhat smudged. Shin made the human stand out with the lines of color come from their faces.
Analyze: This painting has no order or rhythm. Shin did not use a specific color scheme. There are a lot of lines racing towards the bottom of the page. The painting is not "clean" or organized.
Interpret: Shin drew my attention to the two figures by making their bodies a dark and dull color around a vibrant color like red. Shin also painted colorful lines starting at the heads of the two bodies and continued them down to their feet. When I look at this painting, I notice that the two people are nude. This detail gives the piece a sense of confidence and power. I feel as though the people are strong and in control. The couple is not slouched or cowering. Both have good posture showing their strength.
Judge: I love the colors used in this piece. Shin gave off a beautiful and clear message. My favorite part of the piece are the lines coming from the faces. I also really love the bodies. They are not cleanly painted but I can still easily the definition of their figures. I think this piece is gorgeous.
