Rommel's Childhood

Erwin Rommel grew up in a Southern German town called Heidenheim. Rommel was one of four, he had two brothers and a sister. Rommel grew up in a military family, for his father, Erwin Rommel Sr., served in an artillery unit in World War One. Although Erwin Rommel wanted to pursue a career in engineering, his father forced him to attend the Officer Cadet School in Danzing, where he would graduate a lieutenant on November 15, 1911.
