Indus River Valley Civilization
Social structure:
Politics:
Family relations: The wealthy lived in houses inside the city, everyone else lived lived in huts outside the city.
Gender roles: Men had the right to own land and receive an education, women were not given these rights. Women were simply expected to raise children, and cook and clean. .
Social class: caste system with four main classes- Brahmins (which were the priests) and the King, then Kshatriyas (warriors and aristocrats- rulers), followed by Vaishyas (cultivators, artisans, and merchants) and lastly Shudras (peasants and serfs).
Government: The Indus River valley civilization is run by a priest, this was also known as a Theocracy. This means that their government and religion were combined together.
Leaders: Priests whom over saw all trade and ruled the city.
