The department is located on 237 W. Commonwealth Ave. It is three levels of buildings in width. In 1942, it was declared City Hall. This building is L-shaped with many rooms. There is a room called a mural room with a mural. The mural was accidentally discovered in the department. After they discovered it, someone named Helen Lundberg repainted it. This building also has a jail. Many people work in the jail. Outside, there is a police sign that points to where the main office is. In the path of the sign, you can find plaques that say NATIONAL REGISTER OF HISTORIC PLACES. You can also find a garden of big cacti. Right next to the garden there is a sunken courtyard with a water fountain right in the middle.
