Pathological Gambling (PG)

Symptoms

Pathological gambling disorder affects around 2-3% of adults in the world. Although this disorder is well known, there is no cure. Treatment for this disorder includes self-help groups which employ 12 step programs, and there are studies of this disorder that have come to the conclusion that antidepressants may be a possible treatment for this disorder.

Pathological gambling is a disorder where the person cannot resist the impulse to gamble.


This normally affects men in their early twenties, and affect women in the twenties to forties.

-committing crimes for money


-restlessness when trying to stop


-gambling to escape problems


-gambling larger amount to win back losses


-losing their jobs due to gambling


-needing to borrow money for gambling
