Pyromania

Symptoms

children. The biggest concern with this disorder is the overall safety of the public. In addition, it was found that fires set by pyromaniacs causes more deaths than any other household accidents. This disorder seems to stop affecting people once they reach adulthood, because it is very rare to see it in adults. This disorder affects a greater number of males than females, and 2.4-3.5% of the adolescent population in North America.

The disorder pyromania is defined as the pattern of setting fires for pleasure or satisfaction. This disorder is categorized as an ICD because the person fails to resist the  urge to set or play with fire. Pyromania seems to be most prevalent in adolescents and


-depression


-conflicts in relationships


-unusual stress


-setting fires to relieve tension


-poor ability to cope  with stress


-very commonly linked with OCD sufferers
