Ferguson may have won the case, but the community knew that Plessy had changed the way things would be. Back in 1896, a woman of the community stated, "Homer may not have won in court, but honestly, losing in court is what made the change." This means that by losing, people realized his reasons were valid. Not only did this change things for the African Americans, but it made more whites accept them.
