Animal Kingdom: Wood Frog
Common Name: Wood Frog
Scientific Name: Lithobates Sylvaticus
Description: This frog lives in woodlands, wooded swamps, and marshes. During the winter, they bury themselves, go into hibernation, and spend 2-3 months frozen. They breed after winter in the early-mid Spring. They are tan or rust colored with a dark eye mask. They are found only in the U.S. and Canada.
Fun Fact: The call of a wood frog is compared to a quacking duck or squawking chicken.
