Scientific Name: Quercus Ruba

Description: This deciduous tree grows straight and tall reaching heights of more than 70 feet with brilliant fall foliage (red and orange-red shades). It is found throughout much of the eastern U.S and produces acorns which many types of wildlife eat. Oak wilt is a fatal disease that affects Red Oak. Infection by this disease has led to widespread tree damage in various regions, including Michigan.
