- Apply rods in the same direction as for the basic wrap.

- Insertion wraps are wrapped in two tiers. To create the first tier, carve out a standard size blocking and divide it in half, releasing the front half and wrapping the back half on a rod. Repeat until the section is wrapped with the “skip a rod” pattern. The rods will be touching, spaced as in a standard perm.

- Place picks on these rods using two picks for each two rods, placing the picks at the far ends of rods so all unwound hair lies between them. Wrap the second tier using the hair that was left unwound from the first tier. Place the second tier rods on top of the first tier’s picks. When two rods have been wound, pick them together using two picks.

- Continue the perm as normal.
