Alternative Virgin Lightener Application

The Alternative Virgin Lighter application involves mixing and applying one color formula for the scalp area—and the next higher developer formula for the mid-lengths and ends. This technique expedites the hair color process since productcan be applied to the whole head at one time.

Sectioning

1. Create a center part from the front hairline to the nape.

Guest comfort and protection

2. Apply protective cream to the guest’s skin all the way around thehead along the hairline perimeter. If the hair length is at the hairline or longer, apply protective cream to the guest’s neck and cover it with foil.

Color formulas

3. Mix one color formula for the scalp area (formula 1).

Later, you will mix the next higher volume formula for the midlengths and ends. (formula 2).

Subsectioning and product application formula 1

1. Apply formula 1 to the scalp

area along the center part, then

outline the back right quadrant.

2. Take diagonal subsections,

working from the nape toward the point of distribution.

3. Apply formula 1 thoroughly to

the scalp area. Working upward,

pivot the subsections slightly

toward the ear.

4. Repeat this process in the back left quadrant.

5. Move to the front right quadrant.Take vertical subsections, starting from the ear to the point of distribution and moving toward the front hairline.

6. Apply formula 1 thoroughly to

the scalp area.

7. Repeat this process in the front left quadrant.

Product application

formula 2

8. Mix formula 2 using the next

highest volume of developer up

from formula 1. This will be appliedto all midlengths and ends.

9. Start in the back right quadrant. Using the tail of a color brush, find the first subsection near the nape

and lay it over a gloved hand.

10. Use the other hand to

apply formula 2, working

from midlengths to ends and

overlapping formula 1 that was

previously applied to the scalp

area. Turn each subsection over and generously apply product to both sides.

Strand test

13. When the recommended

processing time is complete,

isolate a small amount of hair.

Use a dry towel to gently wipe off the product. Fold the hair in half, back over itself and look for colorbalance through the strand, from the scalp area to the ends.

11. Lay subsections gently down on top of the protective foil and continue to lay them away from the guest’s face.

12. Repeat this process on all quad-rants, moving from back right to back left to front right to front left.

31.
