History Of The Collage
American University was founded in 1893, through the District of Columbia by an Act of Congress pass by President Benjamin Harrison. The first few students consisted of 19 graduate students, 9 of them special students who weren't candidates for degree. It wasn't until the second annual commencement in June 12, 1916 when the first degree was awarded. In WWI and WWII the U.S military use some of the university grounds for testing and research. During WWI the university had to cancel classes and was divided into two camps it was the Camp University that became one of the first chemical weapon program. WWll the campus in 1939 established U.S Navy Bomb Disposal School and WAVE Barracks. After 1925, American University offered both undergraduate and graduate degrees and programs. In 1934, the School of Public Affairs was founded
