-Chance for children to escape poverty and grow into a good citizen
-Many citizens agreed and supported these ideas
-Many states in the North and West began following Mann's ideas in the 1850's
-Many voted that they would pay taxes to better education for teachers and raise their salaries
-Education for women did make slight process as it did for African Americans but they had to go to separate schools
-Teaching people with disabilities were main focuses of some reformers
