MUMMIFICATION was a process in which bodies were preserved for the afterlife. First they removed the organs and placed them in canopic jars. Then they salted the organs with natron, a salt, to preserve them.

They then salted the body and left it to dry.

Soon they filled the body with good smelling oils and other items to freshen the smell and for it to keep its shape.

Finally, they wrapped the body in yards of linen and laid the body to rest in a coffin.
