Rights and entitlement of casual, part time and full time workers: researching their employment conditions.


Casual workers: casual workers have no guaranteed hours of work, usually have to work irregular hours, they don't get paid sick or annual leave like full time employees but they do get a higher hourly pay rate called 'casual loading' because the don't get sick or annual leave.


Part-time: works less than 38 hours weekly, they work regular hours each week. Part time workers are entitled to the same benefits as a full time work, including sick and annual leave. Part time workers are permanent employees or are on a fixed-term contract.


Full time: works 38 hours or more weekly, working long hours on a weekly basis. They are entitled to sick and annual leave. Is an ongoing permanent employee or is of a fixed- term contract. The hours worked are determined between the employer and the employee which is set by an award or set agreement.
