A Word from Wellness…

We are so excited to usher in what is bound to be a rewarding and fruitful school year with a new Wellness Center at Paly.

The Wellness Center provides a safe, supportive environment on our school campus where students can go to discuss a variety of issues. Students receive coordinated health education, assessment, counseling and other support services to maximize their engagement and success. In addition to providing mental health services to our students through our partnerships with local organizations like Adolescent Counseling Services (ACS), Asian Americans for Community Involvement (AACI), and Stanford University, our Wellness Center is in the process of scheduling health and wellness workshops and groups for our teens.

In the spirit of healthy eating, Paly’s Wellness Center hosted a Fruits & Veggies - More Matters event in September. We served fresh fruit and veggies to students during lunch period, had a trivia wheel to test students’ nutrition knowledge, and raffled off gift baskets full of healthy snacks. October was a month for our school community to recognize and celebrate unity, inclusiveness, and acceptance. The Wellness Center partnered with student leaders in QSA to recognize National Coming Out Day and worked with Camp Unity students to bring the campus together against bullying on Unity Day.

Interested in providing a workshop or group to our students in 2016‐2017?

Health and Wellness Professionals:

If you are somebody who likes working with youth and would be interested in leading a lunch‐time workshop, group, or discussion circle on a particular topic of interest, please e‐mail Jonathan Frecceri (jfrecceri@pausd.org) or Julia Chang ( juchang@pausd.org).

Contribute!

No spare time to lead a group? Please contribute to our Wellness Center Holiday drive!

With the holidays approaching and the spirit of giving in the air, we at the Paly Wellness Center would like to invite you, if you are willing and able, to donate to our Center. We would appreciate nut-free donations of healthy food items, such as:

Non-perishable & individually-wrapped snacks, such as nut-free snack bars or real fruit leather strips

Non-caffeinated teas

Mugs

*In an effort to be more sustainable & cut down costs, we aim to transition to the use of mugs instead of disposable cups.

You may drop off donations to Julia Chang in the Wellness Center between 8am-4pm before 12/16.
