Cool Things are always happening in Social Science!

AP Psych:

1 Team teaching: Chris Farina and Melinda Mattes have opened up the partition between the two rooms so that 1) kids can work together with students from the same period and 2) one of us can lecture to both classes and the other can float around helping kids and making sure they are on task.

2 Group projects: the teachers have given a few groups projects each year that help students work on their collaborative skills and provide them with the opportunity to produce a real-life product (a physical model of a brain, a 3-minute video, an original research paper).

Blended Classroom: Students are allowed some flexibility to choose when and where to complete their work, helping them make the transition from the structure of high school to the freedom of college.

Social Justice:

The Senior class is currently working on their Capstone Research Project! Students are researching and identifying a social injustice this semester and plan to find solutions to remedy the problems second semester. The students are working collaboratively with AAR (Advanced Authentic Research).

TEAM:

During the week of November 7th six TEAM classes will be traveled to Yosemite.  A community-building excursion where students, teachers, and parents build relationships and learn in a classroom environment without walls.
