The Klu Klux Klan - 1865
The KKK started in Pulaski, Tennessee. General Nathan Bedford Forrest was the first grand wizard; in 1869, he unsuccessfully tried to disband it after he grew critical of the klan's excessive violence. In 1882, the U.S. Supreme Court declared the KKK Act unconstitutional and the KKK nearly faded away. In the Forrest Gump movie, Forrests' mother says she named him after general Bedford Forrest because "sometimes we all do things that, well, just don't make sense". In Forrest Gump the KKK is portrayed as a group of whites who basically hated everyone who wasn't white which is pretty much how it was in the real world.
