Charles Dickens included child labor in his novel, Oliver Twist. It can be assumed that child labor was included for many reasons. The most essential reason being, Dickens himself worked as a child, from this he has direct experience. He may have wanted to show the audience the truth behind child labor during the Victorian Era. Child labor was an everyday issue, because of this it is no surprise it was included in a novel set during the industrial revolution.
