Child labor was definitely prevalent in Victorian England. There is proof of child labor throughout the novel Oliver Twist. Evidence of this was found in the 4 examples directly from the novel. The protagonist, Oliver is seen venturing into a capitalist economy where Child Labor was at its peak. Dickens experiences as a child were poured into the reality of Oliver's life. The reader is shown mainly cases where Oliver is forced into working against his will, or better judgment. Child labor has definitely changed from back then, to current day. The change was brought by the Child Labor Laws. These laws greatly increase the limitations of children in the work force. The new job environment for children was improved and specified, this was for the better.
