People often say that contemporary arts and modern arts is getting out of control, too shocking… But surely they realize that the shock value incorporated in an art piece is far less than what they see daily on news and entrainment.
*Francis Bacon pointed this out when the interviewer said that people found his paintings shocking.
The reality is that people are daily exposed to stories and images of war, terrorism, disasters, rape, child and animal abuse. With these images and stories constantly displayed and produced by media, it is rather surprising that the public is still outraged and shocked by the activities in fine arts.
