Glueing everything together, just because a work is new, radical and avant-garde it does not mean that it is profound in terms of its contents, or excellent from an aesthetic point of view or even progressive.

Roger Kimball says, “Offensive is… not an index of artistic quality, It is widely assumed that by baptizing something as “arts” we thereby exempt it from other kinds of criticism. (R. Kimball: Index on Censorship).

THESIS:

Different classes, genders, education, race, religion and artistic tastes, combined with the misleading mass media coverage of modern and contemporary arts, explains the different reactions that shock art provokes.
