Tribulations and Achievements

Nullification Crisis- In South Carolina, in response to the Tariff of Abomination, they came up with the idea that they could nullify, or not follow the law. The refused to, and threatened to secede from the United States. In response, Jackson lowered the tariffs, and convinced South Carolina to not secede.

Worcester vs. Georgia- This was a Supreme Court case that declared the Cherokees Indians were an independent nation, with a legitimate title to its national territory. Despite, this Georgia ignored the courts ruling and still continued to oppress the Cherokees.

Foreign Affairs- The United States achieved a number of diplomatic triumphs under the leadership of Jackson. The treaty with Great Britain reopened America Trade with the British West Indies and the agreement with Siam, was the first between the United States and and Asiatic nation.
