Zoonotic Infections from cats
SALIENT POINTS:
Unilateral granulomatous conjunctivitis with preauricular or submandibular lymphadenopathy is also known as Parinaud’s occuloglandular conjunctivitis syndrome.
There are many causes, including bacteria (e.g. TB, tularemia, and syphilis), fungi, viruses and inflammatory diseases (e.g. sarcoid).
One cause is bartonellosis. It follows contact with young cats.
The course is benign, and recovery in absence of treatment is generally seen within 2 to 3 months.
