(5) ANTIRETROVIRAL THERAPY ALONE
SALIENT POINTS:
This is Molluscum contagiosum, which is caused by a pox virus that is spread by skin to skin contact.
These lesions can become numerous and large in patients with HIV infection, especially those with low CD4 counts.
There is no specific chemotherapy.
The lesions often resolve with ART, or can be removed by physical methods such as liquid nitrogen, curretage, or electrosurgery although such therapies may have to be repeated every few weeks for lesions that are cosmetically disturbing.
