King Henry VIII
In England the main figure of the Reformation was King Henry VIII. Henry had no sons and his wife was ineligeable to have any more children. Henry asked the pope to end his marriage so he could get married again. His plan was to have a son to leave his throne to, but the pope denied Henry's request. Henry decided that he didn't want to listen to the pope so he declared himself the leader of a new church in 1534. Unsimilar to Luther and Calvin, Henry made his break from the church for personal reason instead of religious ones. Henry never really made any changes to the Catholic Church.
