"IT WAS EASIER TO UNDERSTAND!"

This comment was made by more than one student. During sharing sessions, students were engaged and impressed by their peers.

The speed with which students are able to create has increased rapidly as they have been given more and more opportunities to use the program. We initially began with a three-step system, working with a comic filter first, but have since found that cutting out the middle step creates a much higher quality final product.

"I FELT LIKE A BETTER WRITER!"

Some students who had struggled with traditional writing forms were able to finally expose their talents. Collaboration was key as everyone ran into hiccups along the way. As a teacher, I felt that this brought them closer together and allowed the editing process to be more productive.

Substance abuse is a very heavy issue. The kids were extremely passionate about the topic and decided to try to get their thoughts across in graphic form. This comic was created in approximately 45 minutes.
