-One age Catholic people can receive communion for the first time is when they are children. When they are children, they usually receive communion for the first time when they are around 2nd grade. The day of their first communion, children gather in fancy clothes (boys in nice suits and girls in white dresses and usually have a vail). The mass goes as usual and the children go up with the rest of adults and other children to receive the Eucharist but only they are receiving it for the first time.
