Amelie enters the 'Belly of the Whale" after she discreetly returns the time capsule to its rightful owner, Dominique Bretodeau. Unaware that she originally found it, Bretodeau shares with her how it has inspired him to rekindle his relationship with his daughter. As a result, Amelie has more confidence and shows willingness in her efforts, as the narrator exclaims, "Amelie has a strange feeling of absolute harmony...A surge of love, an urge to help mankind comes over her."
