After discovering the time capsule, Amelie is so captivated by it that the narrator states, "Only the discoverer of Tutankhamen's tomb would know how she felt upon finding this treasure..." Later that night, Amelie lays in bed thinking about the time capsule. She has an epiphany and makes the promise that, "Wherever he was, she would find the box's owner, and she'd give him back his treasure. If he was touched, she would become a regular do-gooder. If not, too bad."
