Amelie's road of trials are an array of tasks to help others, ranging from simple to complex. Just minutes after talking with Bretodeau, Amelie helps a blind and elderly man walk across the street, vividly describing what she sees. At the restaurant, she sets up a relationship between a co-worker and a customer, who both suffer from personal issues. She also influences her father to travel with an elaborate plan involving a garden gnome and flight attendant. Despite Amelie doing much more, her largest trial is getting up the courage to meet Nino, her love interest. In this situation, Amelie struggles to put her own needs first, in fear of getting hurt, or as her imagination says, "a reality check".
