Describe:
From an outsider's perspective, Da Vinci shows Jesus and his disciples at the last supper.
-complex shapes
-some actual and some implied line
-can see texture in the roles and wrinkles in the clothing
-realistic

"Last Supper"

By: Leonardo Da Vinci
Date: 1495
Period: Italian Renaissance

Analyze:
-used linear perspective
-symmetrically balanced (6 disciples on each side)
-during the Renaissance in Italy, religious art was very popular
-ground=negative space
-uses overlapping to show depth
-focal point is Jesus

Interpret:
I think Da Vinci is trying to communicate that Jesus was the focal point of his disciples' life. He shows this by using linear perspective with Jesus as the vanishing point.
