Linux

At different points in the course you will be required to deal with the Linux operating system and engage in command-line computing. There are a number of reasons for this approach, perhaps the foremost of them being that many of the systems and utilities employed by library and archival technologists have been developed in the open source software environment and rely on the Linux OS. So, understanding library and archival computing necessarily entails working with Linux and applications that have been developed to run under Linux.
